Someone in Toronto has big balls…..
Jul 28th
Apperantly the Toronto Blue Jays have told teams they won’t trade middle reliever Scott Downs unless they are blown away with an offer.
Whoever is GM of this franchise has real balls to seriously ask the Yanks for top prospect Jesus Montero for Downs!
Apparently he thinks Omar Minaya is GM’ing the Yanks. Yeah this makes a lot of sense, Montero was the main piece in a deal to bring Cliff Lee to Bronxtown and now that that deal fell through, why the hell wouldn’t the Yanks agree to trade him for a middle reliever!
Trade the best pitcher in baseball (Doc Halladay) for a crappy set of minor leaguers and ask the world for a crappy middle reliever. I guess GM’ing isnt for everyone.
Isiah Thomas just contacted the Blue Jays brass to give him some tips on how to successfully ruin a franchise this well since he never had the chutzpah to offer Eddie Curry for Pau Gasol.
MLB goes out on a limb…Bans Guns, Knives and Explosives from Clubhouse
Feb 26th

All time leader in Gold Digging
I would love to have been there when the meeting for these bannings took place.
Selig on one side of the table, representatives from the MLB Players Association on the other. Selig says he wants all these stuff banned from all team functions and events. The MLBPA agrees but is adamant about Explosives not being included in the ban. They argue for quiet some time about locations where the guns and explosives are allowed. They argue over this for 3 days until they reach the ban. After hearing this news Gilbert Arenas told Plaxico Burress “Fuck the MLB, we are never gonna play for those Crackers!”
So baseball has banned explosives but not HGH, what a world we live in. I still can’t get over the explosives ban, until the ban it must have been assumed that it was allowed in the clubhouse no? That’s why they had to put it into the ban. There were probably players unpacking there stuff into lockers, like pictures of family, a few gloves, some coins, and some dynamite or firecrackers!
Is this 2007 still? Frank Thomas announcing retirement today…

Breaking news no? why the hell hasn’t he announced this in the last 3 years when he hasn’t touched a baseball?
Was he aware that playing himself in MLB 2K9 was not considered being in the big leagues?
Other breaking news, Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points and Kobe Bryant raped a woman.
The Big Hurt better get some better publicists since the clowns he has hired take 3 years to do the job any of us can do in what, ONE EMAIL?
For what it’s worth the Big Hurt is obviously a first ballot Hall of Famer, and unlike all the other sluggers of the last 20 years has never been brought up in the whole Steroids stuff. I mean look at this dude, he was born 200 pounds, if he ever put steroids in his massive body the dudes head would have exploded like a pinata being attacked by Somalian pirates.
Joe Mauer doesn’t want to be highest paid player in game….
Feb 4th

Mauer don't got any
What the hell is wrong with this kid? Someone needs to sit him down in front of Ari Gold for a few minutes to settle him straight and put things in perspective.
I honestly think Mr Mauer is not a humanoid like the rest of us. He is a cross of Ghandi and ET, there is something extra terrestrial about him. Last week in ESPN magazine they had a feature on how he responded to a random fan mail envelope with a whole personalized response to the guy why he couldn’t respond sooner. Here is Joe Mauer, winner of the MVP and Batting Crown apologizing to a Joe Phan about FAN MAIL. Which other human would actually do this?!
Now Mauer told The New York Times, he DOESN”T want to be the highest paid player. That’s like a movie star telling the studios he only will star in the film if it goes directly to DVD, he doesn’t want to be seen in theaters. Mauer has the opportunity to fill in a blank check with any number and any city to play in, and instead of adding zeroes the fucker is getting out his eraser and knocking a few off.
Joe, if your knees gave out in 2014 and the Twins were stuck paying you the 5 million dollar deal you brokered, they would still have no issues trading you, get the max deal that Arod got and stop playing Worlds Kindest Man. This is sports, start beating up people and living the high life.
I can’t imagine what the people of Haiti would say when told of Mauer turning down millions. They are probably burning all the Twins 2009 World Series shirts and sweaters they got from MLB last year.
Yankees might make Joba a reliever and Hughes the starter….
Feb 3rd

Joba will be having this perplexed look the entire 2010 season as well...
http://www.sportingnews.com/mlb/article/2010-02-03/joba-hughes-could-switch-roles-for-yankees-2010
This really is going to be comical what the Yankees do now since they didn’t screw up Joba enough. After flipflopping him between Stud reliever to crappy starter back to reliever they have not tormented the youngster enough.
Hughes looked as good as any reliever last year and instead of just keeping him there and leaving Joba as the #5, Girardi has hinted at putting Hughes as the #5 and Joba the middle man.
The truth is it really makes no difference on the 2010 season since they have CC, AJ, Vazquez and Andy Pettitte, pretty sure if they resigned Hideki Irabu for the #5 they will fare well. But the Yankees seem to be doing everything in their power to make sure that both these youngsters appear on Dr.Phil at least 5 times to repair the mental anxiety issues the Yankees are imposing on them.
Just leave Hughes as the setup to one day take over Mariano and let Joba do his 5 inning magic as the #5 starter and if he really goes Ching Ming Wang on them and has a 10+ ERA they will make a trade for Tim Lincecum or any other starter they want by midseason….
You gotta feel bad for Willy Taveras….
Feb 3rd

He must have been feeling a large wave of emotions yesterday. He wakes up to hear that he has been traded from the Cincinnati Reds to the Oakland Athletics. I am sure he was ecstatic leaving behind a floundering franchise for the great weather and atmosphere of the Bay area. His agent probably opened up about three cases of cognac for him.
Then he hops on a plane gets to Oakland, puts on all the Athletics gear he can find to really show his bosses he is happy here, only to be told that they are designating him for assignment!
He must have been like “where the fuck is Ashton Kutcher? Is this some kind of sick prank?” Dude gets traded for and his new team would rather pay him to not play. Taveras is exactly like Conan O’brien only that his team of 300 people working for him do not speak English and he pays them in Pesos.
Baseball rather have a player represent a nonexisting franchise then the Cubs!

He won his only MVP trophy as a Chicago Cub, but it looks like Andre Dawson will collect his Hall of Fame hardware as a member of the Montreal Expos.
Dawson sent a text message to the Chicago Tribune on Tuesday night saying: “Hall will issue a press release [Wednesday] announcing that I will go in as an Expo.”
Dawson spent the first 11 seasons of his career in Montreal, winning Rookie of the Year in 1977. He hit 225 of his 438 career homers with the Expos. He also showcased more of a speed game in Montreal, registering 253 of his 314 career steals.
But it was in Chicago that Dawson became a household name. He handed the Cubs a blank contract in 1987 as a free agent and signed for $500,000 with $250,000 in incentives. He proceeded to bat .287 and led the league in homers (49) and RBIs (137), while winning MVP, a Gold Glove and going to the All-Star Game.
The “Hawk” was an All-Star in five of his six seasons in Chicago before moving on to the Red Sox. He finished his 21-year career with the Expos.
Mets, Angels, Dodgers all pursuing Joel Pineiro…..
Jan 20th
It’s not like we don’t know how the Joel Pineiro 2010 season will play out….
He had a great year in 2009 while in a contract year, just like many former crappy players had career years right before they put their careers back onto snooze.
Teams are running after Pineiro as is he has been doing this for years, the dude had a 5.11 ERA in 2008 and was a bad relief pitcher in 2007. He has had ONE good season in the last 8 years and now he will be rewarded for it.
I am calling it right now, the Pineiro contract will go down as one of the bigger busts along with the likes of Carl “injured buttocks” Pavana, Jarret Wright and countless others….
